LARVA DESTROYER
(ENTOLETER)

Food-safety and shelf-life-extension technology

A high-performance biological-sterilisation unit that safeguards food safety and shelf life, positioned in flour and semolina mills just before the finished product is sent to packaging or finished-product silos. It is developed to destroy the microscopic insect eggs and larvae that easily pass through the mill sieves (sieve-cloth apertures) by a high-speed mechanical-shock (impact) effect, without damaging the flour particles.

WORKING PRINCIPLE

Product reception into the dynamic rotor chamber — axial central feed: the finished flour that has passed the rolls and sieves and taken its final form is fed vertically inside through the entoleter’s central upper inlet throat before packaging or storage. Kinetic impact effect on heat-treated pins — centrifugal shock frequency: the high-speed rotor flings the flour toward the walls by centrifugal force; meanwhile the flour mass strikes, at high kinetic energy, the heat-treated special-alloy steel pins arrayed on the rotor; the resulting micro-shock waves burst and deactivate all microscopic insect eggs and larvae in the flour. Safe outlet from the special-sealed body — dust-free sterile discharge: the sterilised flour that has passed the mechanical shock process sifts down the body walls to the lower outlet cone; the special sealing system around the motor shaft eliminates dust emissions, while the product is conveyed to the flour silos without loss and safely.

KEY ADVANTAGES

• Maximum shelf life for hot-climate regions. Because insect eggs in flour easily pass through the sieve apertures, they breed quickly especially in hot-climate geographies, creating a serious contamination risk; passing the flour through this machine before silage makes insect breeding in the finished product extremely difficult and extends the commercial shelf life.

• Heat-hardened special steel pins. The rotor pins, exposed to constant flour friction and impact stresses at high speed, are made of a special wear-resistant steel and put through advanced heat treatment; this metallurgical strength gives precise shock precision for the machine’s whole life.

• “Zero-Dust” laboratory-type sealing system. The special seals positioned between the dynamic motor shaft and the cast body reliably prevent the fine-dust leaks and dusting most common in flour mills; a 100% clean working environment is created.

• Heavy-duty cast body and flexible mounting. The machine has a rigid cast body that damps vibrations and offers high mechanical stability; thanks to its compact design it allows flexible mounting in different physical positions of the plant diagram and on different floors.

• Capacity-matched model and motor combinations. It is made in a wide variety of industrial models and motor-power options to suit the hourly total flour throughput, flow rate and automation requirements.

ENGINEERING NOTE

The entoleter is the most critical mechanical condition for complying with international food-safety standards (HACCP) in modern flour milling. The kinetic impact effect of the high-speed impeller pins creates a destructive pressure breakdown only on pests (insects and their larvae), in no way changing the flour’s chemical structure, its ash, gluten and baking values. The rigid cast body prevents axial imbalance at high speeds and guarantees the stability of the bearings and motor shaft
