MOISTENING AND CONDITIONING SCREW CONVEYOR

Stepped-dynamic-mixing intensive conditioning unit

A high-performance conditioning unit for the tempering sections of flour and semolina mills: it homogeneously embeds the specific amount of water injected into the grain mass across the whole kernel surface and brings the endosperm structure to its ideal maturity. Subjecting the grain to intensive friction within a continuous-flow mechanics, the system accelerates water penetration into the kernel while safely conveying the product to vertical or horizontal transport lines toward the tempering bins.

WORKING PRINCIPLE

Precise dampening and intake — recipe-controlled water inlet: the grain mass arriving from elevator or flow-meter lines is met simultaneously at the machine’s inlet hopper with the set proportion of tempering water. Forward-reverse paddle and internal-bypass technology — aggressive intensive mixing: rotor paddles arrayed at special angles, or an internal-bypass screw geometry, while carrying the grain toward the outlet, simultaneously apply forward and reverse dynamic strikes; this bidirectional hydraulic motion secures molecular attachment of the water to the kernel’s outer skin (pericarp) and its uniform spread. Pre-bin conditioning and discharge — maturing and conveying: the wheat, matured and moisture-balance-stabilised after the critical friction stage, is discharged from the outlet without losing flowability, to be delivered straight to the tempering bins (resting cells).

KEY ADVANTAGES

- Forward-reverse mixing kinematics: Unlike classic conveying screws, the special paddle layout not only carries the product forward but creates reverse lower cycles that force the grain to tumble within itself; this aggressive mixing maximises the water-product contact time.

- Fully stainless-steel design (anti-corrosion): To fully eliminate the rusting, corrosion and wear that can occur in high-moisture, wet environments, the screw body and rotor shaft are made entirely of high-grade stainless steel; 100% hygienic and sanitation-standard compliant.

- Maximum flexibility and twin (two-tier) body option: Made in different lengths, models and capacities to suit the plant layout, flow density and the tempering character the wheat needs; twin (two-tier/sequential) models are available for high-capacity lines requiring intensive dampening.

- Dual function: conditioning and conveying: While perfectly dampening and maturing the grain, the machine simultaneously acts as a powerful conveyor carrying the product from the main elevator line to the tempering bins, reducing the need for extra equipment in the plant.

ENGINEERING NOTE

The Dampening & Maturing Screw is the most critical engineering component determining the physical elasticity of the wheat before it enters the roll floor. The internal-bypass rotor geometry prevents the kernels from piling up and breaking in the machine and ensures homogeneous water penetration into the endosperm. This precise moisture distribution prevents the bran from softening and breaking into the flour channel as flour during milling; it thereby lowers the flour’s ash content while permanently safeguarding grist quality.
